Queensland building licensees not yet up to speed with new payment and financial reporting requirements following a high turn-out at recent seminars are urged to sign up for live webinars this Friday (22 March).
Queensland Building and Construction Commissioner, Brett Bassett, said the webinars would delve into new payment practices that came into effect on 17 December 2018, and changes to minimum financial requirements.
“The face-to-face sessions we conducted across Queensland proved extremely popular, attracting 2,202 attendees,” said Mr Bassett.
“To help those who couldn’t attend those events, we are offering webinar sessions for the first time,” he said.
“They are live and interactive, and watchable from the comfort of your home or workplace via computer or phone.”
Mr Bassett said QBCC staff would be available to answer any questions about the recent changes and what they mean for the industry and its participants. “The Payments Practices session covers information on issuing and receiving an invoice, what to do if an invoice is not paid, and changes to retentions and the defects liability period,” he said.
“The session on minimum financial requirements is a timely one, given that everyone with a Queensland contractor license is now required to provide annual financial information to the QBCC.
“The deadline of 31 March 2019 for reporting by Category 4-7 licensees is fast approaching.
“If you are unsure about these new laws and what financial information you need to provide, I encourage you to join this session.
“It will cover licensees’ new annual reporting requirements, how to submit financial information via myQBCC and commonly used terms and frequently asked questions.”
